Icons

Mount Olive honors the iconographic tradition of the Eastern churches, striving to grasp the great mystery of the self-emptying life and love of God. As St. Gregory said, “To gaze upon an icon is to remember our future.”

Christ, the Light of the World

Nicholas Papas’ depiction of a radiant Jesus invites us to meditate not only on Christ’s light but on the light our own loved ones have shone to a darkened world.

Resurrection

This image by Nicholas Papas depicts Christ’s freeing of souls trapped in Hades, his rising from the grave and his victory — our victory — over death.

Ascension

Nicholas Markell’s work shows Christ’s dramatic, angel-filled return to his heavenly home.

Pentecost

This work by Nicholas Markell represents the pouring out of the Holy Spirit upon the church, which is the mystical body of Christ for the world.
