Confirmation

Confirmation is the name given both to a course of study and to the rite that concludes this time of learning.

At Mount Olive, most students begin their confirmation studies in the sixth or seventh grade. They study Luther’s Small Catechism, the Hebrew scriptures, the New Testament, and Lutheran theology. Students and parents also work together throughout the curriculum, and there is memory work in most classes.

The goal is to prepare students to affirm publicly the promises made over them at baptism and to commit their lives to serving Christ. While young people regularly undertake this process, adults are also welcome to explore confirmation.

The rite of confirmation happens at the festival of Pentecost at the end of the last year of study. Contact Pastor Crippen for more information.
