Designed and installed in the mid-1960s by noted organ builder Herman Schlicker, our impressive organ preserves the bright sound that Baroque music needs while also fulfilling the eclectic appetites of the modern church.
The instrument has three parts:
- The main case, finished in 1966 and located in the west gallery.
- The antiphonal component, installed in the north transept in 1965 to improve the sound quality at the front of the church.
- The positiv, installed behind the organ bench in 1966 to fill an empty spot in the instrument’s sound pattern.
Below, hear an interview with retired cantor David Cherwien, and listen to the organ. You may also take a tour of the instrument.
